The UmiDigi S2 has a full-screen design and a massive 5,100 mAh battery to boot $199

Red Version On Sale now!!!!

All-screen front designs are in this year. What seemed like a futuristic dream, only available in conceptual artworks a couple of years ago is finally becoming a reality — phones with bezels so slim that you almost feel like you are only holding a screen already exist out there — the Samsung Galaxy S8Note 8LG V30Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 being the hot ones. Aside from the bezel-less aspect, they are also pushing the new super-wide screen ratio of 18:9 — one that seems to be well on its way to becoming mainstream now that the iPhone X has picked it up, too. Still, those phones are a bit on the expensive side, but a few manufacturers out there are offering a few very affordable models, which challenge the market status quo.

UmiDigi is among them and the company has just announced its latest phone — the UmiDigi S2. A nearly-bezel-less phone with the new 18:9 ratio, which top-tier manufacturers seem to be switching to.

So, what's the S2? It's a metal-made phone with a 6-inch display and only a thin, thin frame around it. Don't let the 6-inch diagonal scare you — the display has a ratio of 18:9, which means that the phone feels akin to handling a 5.5-inch-screen handset, instead of a massive phablet. The resolution we've got here is 720 x 1440 pixels, which amounts to a pixel density of about 268 PPI. The handset is powered by MediaTek's octa-core Helio P20, ticking at 2.3 GHz. 4 GB of RAM helps it keep things loaded and there are 64 GB of on-board storage, expandable via a microSD card of up to 256 GB.

We've got a dual camera on this phone's back — a 13 MP Sony sensor does all the picture-snapping, while a 5 MP sensor assists it for distance detection in case you want to use the DSLR-simulating blur mode. On the front, we have a 5 MP selfie snapper.

The battery is another highlight of the UmiDigi S2 — a huge 5,100 mAh juicer promises a 2-day battery life easy. In fact, the manufacturer claims 10 hours of gameplay before the battery gives in, so that's impressive. It also supports Quick Charge, which tops it back up in 1 hour and 30 minutes. That's quite fast for such a large juicer!

The S2 comes with near-stock Android 6 Marshmallow out of the box, with Umi promising good level of energy efficiency. Later editions of the phone, however, will come loaded with Android 7 and Umi's custom software on top. The handset also lacks a headphone jack, so you'll have to make due with the USB Type-C port only.
