UMi has unveiled its latest smartphone, the UMi Plus E, which features a 5.5-inch FHD screen and will be one of the first available smartphones with Mediatek's Helio P20 octa-core chipset.
The new UMi Plus E is an updated version of the already available UMi Plus smartphone, coming with Mediatek's 16nm Helio P20 octa-core SoC, which promises a 20 percent higher CPU performance and 25 percent higher GPU performance compared to the Helio P10. UMi paired the Helio P10 with 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM, which should certainly help with performance.
The Helio P20 is Mediatek's first 16nm SoC that is manufactured by TSMC and features eight Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 2.3GHz and the new Mali T880 MP2 GPU clocked at 900MHz.
The UMi Plus E (Extreme) is built around a 5.5-inch LTPS 1920x1080 2.5D screen, which comes from Sharp, and uses a 6000 series aluminum alloy for unibody design. UMi also notes that it has high screen-to-body ratio with narrow bezel and according to pictures, it does not look half bad.
The rest of the specifications include 64GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 256GB via Hybrid SIM microSD card slot (either dual-SIM or SIM and microSD), usual connectivity options 4G LTE, 802.11abgn dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and USB Type-C, 13MP Samsung 3L8 rear camera with 5-element lens, PDAF auto-focus, two-tone flash and 4K video recording, 5MP GalaxyCore front camera and the new Touch ID 2.1 fingerprint sensor under the front button.
UMi also managed to squeeze in a rather impressive Sony 4000mAh battery that should keep it alive for two-days and it comes with Quick Charge PE+ technology which should give you a half charge in just 30 mins.
